Generations of Play
Generations of Play is an intergenerational art program with mommies heart to heart that brings children and seniors together in a nursing home setting to create art, share stories, and build meaningful connections. Through collaborative art-making, participants explore creativity, self-expression, and shared experiences, fostering a sense of community across generations. This program encourages social engagement, reduces isolation for seniors, and provides children with valuable lessons in empathy and communication. By making art together, both groups create lasting memories and a stronger sense of belonging.
Video Diaries
Stories Across Generations was a storytelling project where seniors shared personal experiences through filmed interviews centered on key life themes. The final film was screened at a Jersey City art show during JC Fridays, featuring ADA-compliant headphones and closed captions, with the projection uniquely displayed inside a vintage suitcase. This project celebrated personal histories, fostering intergenerational connection and accessibility in the arts.
Angel Numbers pop-up show
Angel Numbers Pop-Up was a creative community event held at The Pink Stop in Jersey City Heights on September 24, 2023. The event was meant to engage the Jersey City community in a free arts program. The event had a clay art activation, collage-making, and highlighted local vendors. This event featured local musicians and was free to the public.
Free Art Classes in Jounral Square Path Plaza
"In 2022, Jersey City-based artist Athena Toledo offered free creative workshops to foster self-expression and connection. Her youth classes, include Paint Pouring, DIY Salt Dough Clay, and Drawing Workshops. These workshops provided a fun and engaging space for kids to explore art with their families."​​
Crafting for a Cause
In January 2025, &CO Grove and the New Jersey Consortium for Immigrant Children (NJCIC) hosted Crafting for a Cause, an art workshop promoting healing and empowerment for young immigrants. Held at &CO Grove’s social workspace in Jersey City, participants created paper lanterns symbolizing hope and mixed media plates reflecting on shared meals and community. Led by Kiki Buccini and Athena Toledo, the workshop fostered connection, optimism, and support for NJCIC’s mission.
Mural at Newport Mall
"Ode to Jersey City" was a collaborative mural project designed to bring students' artwork together during the isolation of COVID-19. Through shared creative expression, young artists contributed to a collective mural, symbolizing gratitude, connection, and hope. This initiative fostered community during a time of separation, proving that even in difficult moments, art can bridge distances and bring people together.
